Why Come to Missouri

Missouri is a beautiful state and has so much to offer for all walks of life.  Being in the central part of the country, it makes for easy travel options. With a mix of rural and urban areas, there is always something to do!

Northwest Missouri

The Northwest part of Missouri holds a lot of history. It is the home of outlaw, Jesse James (Kearney) and rapper, Eminem (St. Joseph), the birthplace of Cherry Mash candy (St. Joseph), and the Home of Sliced Bread (Chillicothe). There are also numerous museums of all types to explore, including the Pony Express National Museum. Manufacturing and health care and social assistance are the region’s top industries with one of our partners, Mosaic Life Care, being the region’s top health care employer.

One of the main attractions in the Northwest Region of Missouri is Big Lake State Park. For more than 100 years, Big Lake has attracted settlers and visitors as it is the largest oxbow lake remaining in Missouri. Enjoy all the outdoor recreation the lake has to offer. Almost every county has fun events the whole family can enjoy.  Every Labor Day weekend, the Great Pershing Balloon Derby in Brookfield is a must see and is a highly anticipated event.
